Flora

Persina Nature Park falls in the Danube biogeography sub region, part of European – West -Siberian Region of the Paleo - Arctic biogeographically realm. Over 743 higher plant species inhabit the Park territory. Most of them are connected with the availability of water.

Fauna

In zoogeographic respect the territory of Persina Nature Park is in the Danube region of the European – West-Siberian Region. In the Park there are 1100 animal species, including 250 zoo-plankton and 99 zoo-benthos species, over 770 kinds of invertebrates with 35 snails species and 16 kinds of mussels.

Volunteers to help the pelicans

Persina Nature Park Directorate is the proud winner of the shared first prize
"The Living Danube" for 2024 awarded by the Danube Natural Heritage Foundation, Neuburg Germany. The award ceremony took place on 29 June, on the eve of the Danube Day, at Grünau Castle in Neuburg.

News from LIFE WILDisland project
Persina Nature Park has started the installation of a Ramsar site information point on Persin Island. The information point will replace the old monitoring tower located on the territory of the largest Ramsar site in Bulgaria, "Belen Islands Complex".

Opening of the exhibition "Pelicans and Wetlands"

The models made by the children are exhibited in the Visitor Centre of Persina NP in a specially arranged exhibition dedicated to "Pelicans and Wetlands". The exhibition will be open from 19th February, with the opening hours of the administration.
Come see the world of Dalmatian pelicans through children's eyes. With love to the pelicans!

Persina Nature Park is established on December 4th 2000 and covers an area of 21 762 ha. It is located on the territory of the three municipalities: Nikopol, Belene and Svishtov. Persina Nature Park is a unique for Bulgaria. Its proclamation is aimed to conserve and restore the Danube wetlands and reserve the natural state of the numerous islands.
