At the end of June, the Pelican Educational Camp was held in the Danube Delta. Children from 4 countries Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Ukraine, together with their teachers, were involved in various educational actions sharing a common passion for the protection of dalmatian pelicans around the world. Lectures, presentations, films, outdoor activities, wildlife watching, bird monitoring, brainstorming case solving, developing a start-up business in a conservation area and many other activities were included in the camp programme. The organizer of the camp was the international nature protection organization Rewilding Europe, with co-organizers from the Bulgarian side, the Persina Nature Park Directorate and the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. The Bulgarian team was represented by students and teachers at "Dimcho Debelyanov" Secondary School, Belene, who in 2022 became part of the "Pelikan" Youth Club in the Persina Nature Park Directorate (PNPD). The children coped at an extremely high level, took an active part, standing out with knowledge in the field of biodiversity and wetlands, sharing experiences gained at school, during international trips under the Erasmus + project, and participating in the actions organized by PNPD. Sharing a common passion for wildlife conservation and inspiring young people to preserve its natural state, we at PNPD believe that together we can change the world for the better!
