The Traveling Photo Exhibition "The Uniqueness of the Wild Danube Islands" Opens at Nature Conservation Centre Poda, Burgas
From the beginning of August until 30 September 2026, visitors to Nature Conservation Centre Poda near Burgas will have the opportunity to explore the traveling photo exhibition "The Uniqueness of the Wild Danube Islands" (Wild Island Uniqueness), organized by the Persina Nature Park Directorate.
The exhibition showcases the beauty and ecological importance of the wild Danube islands and is dedicated to the Belene Islands Ramsar Site. Through the remarkable aerial photographs of renowned Bulgarian photographer Alexander Ivanov, visitors will discover some of the most valuable wetlands along the Danube River and their exceptional biodiversity.
The exhibition was created within the framework of the project "Danube Wild Islands – Habitat Corridor" (LIFE WILDisland, LIFE20 NAT/AT/000063). Its main objective is to promote Bulgaria's Ramsar Sites and raise public awareness about the conservation of these unique natural areas. All exhibition texts are presented in both Bulgarian and English, making the exhibition accessible to international visitors as well.
Following its successful presentation in Belene and Silistra, where it attracted considerable interest from both local communities and visitors, the exhibition is now hosted at another iconic wetland and one of Bulgaria's Ramsar Sites – Poda Protected Area, near Burgas.
The exhibition features 40 aerial photographs, captured from a motorized hang glider entirely above Persina Nature Park. The images reveal breathtaking perspectives of the Danube islands, the river landscape, and the area's outstanding natural heritage.
The Persina Nature Park Directorate would like to express its sincere gratitude to the team of Poda Nature Conservation Centre for their partnership and for providing the opportunity to present the exhibition to an even wider audience of nature enthusiasts. This joint initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote Bulgaria's internationally important wetlands and contribute to their conservation for future generations.
